What sizes of dumpsters do you offer?
Our dumpster selection includes 10 Yard, 15 Yard, and 20 Yard dumpster containers. Each container comes with a rear loading door that swings open to allow for easy access.

What are the dimensions of Dump South’s dumpsters?
10 Yard = 14’ x 8’ x 4’
15 Yard = 14’ x 8’ x 5’
20 Yard = 14’ x 8’ x 6’
What is the weight limit for each dumpster size?
Each of our dumpster rentals includes a certain amount of tonnage depending on the size you choose. Any tonnage that exceeds the included amount may incur additional charges or the driver may refuse to pick up the container until the weight has been reduced.
Dumpster Rental Period
How long is the standard rental period?
Each of our Dumpster rentals includes 7 days as the standard rental period. However, you have the option to either select longer terms or pay by the day for additional time required.
How far in advance should I schedule a dumpster rental?
We recommend scheduling your dumpster rental as early as possible to ensure availability, especially during peak seasons or busy times. Planning ahead allows us to accommodate your specific delivery and pickup dates, providing you with the flexibility to choose the most convenient timeframe for your project.
Can I rent a dumpster, but have it emptied and brought back?
Yes, we typically refer to this request as a “Swap-Out.” For these we carry a new dumpster with us when we come to pick-up your filled container. Then we swap them out, leaving you with an empty container while removing your full one. Still have dumpster rental questions? Contact us anytime for answers.
Are there options for extending the rental period, and what are the associated costs?
The rental period can be extended if you need additional time. Each additional day incurs a small fee if added after the rental is completed. We recommend adding a few additional days to your estimation and selecting the longer rental period up front to avoid daily fees.
Is same-day dumpster delivery available?
While we strive to accommodate last-minute requests, it’s advisable to schedule your dumpster rental at least a few days in advance to secure the availability of the dumpster size you need.
What happens if I discover that I need a larger dumpster midway through the project?
No worries, you have a couple of options. You can order a second dumpster of a different size to make up the difference or you can schedule a swap-out. A swap-out just means that we bring you an empty container and pick up the one that’s full. Either way, just give us a call and let us know what’s going on and we will get it worked out.
Delivery & Pickup
Is delivery and pickup included in the rental price?
Our dumpster rentals do include both the pickup and delivery. You just pick the delivery day and let us know where you want it setup. Then when the day you selected for pickup rolls around, we pick it up and dump it. Also, if you finish with it earlier than expected you can just give us a call and we can pick it up and get it out of your way.
What is the process for scheduling delivery and pickup?
Ordering & scheduling your roll off dumpster rental can be completed right here on our website. You select the days you want it delivered and picked up and we handle the rest while keeping you updated every step of the way.
How much space is required for the dumpster and the delivery truck?
Our dumpsters are 14’ in length and 8’ in width which typically fits comfortably in most driveways. However, you’ll need enough space for the delivery truck to maneuver and safely drop off the dumpster in the space designated. This includes about 60-feet ahead of the space and at least 22-feet of overhead clearance.
How many times can it be dumped during my rental?
Our standard dumpster rental includes a single dump at the end of the rental period. However, if you need additional dumps just give us a call and we can get a swap-out scheduled for you so that you can keep working.
Payment Terms
What are the payment terms?
We require payment in full prior to delivery of the dumpster or at the time of delivery. In certain circumstances we do offer customized terms to match your projects requirements.
How can I pay for it?
We accept all major credit card providers. Due to the nature of the business, we prefer to avoid checks or cash but if you contact us prior to ordering we can discuss your situation.
Location Restrictions
Are there any restrictions on where the dumpster can be placed?
In general, dumpsters are to be placed on packed level ground where possible. The placement of the dumpster is subject to a variety of limitations that must be considered. The renter should select a location that meets local regulations and limits the potential for damage. Then our drivers will decide on the safety and accessibility of the desired placement at the time of delivery.
What’s the best place to put a dumpster on my property?
Each property is unique so our experienced delivery team will work with you to determine the best location for placing the dumpster on your property. We take factors like the slope, surface type, and potential obstacles into consideration to avoid any issues. Generally speaking though, the best place for a dumpster is usually the same areas that you regularly drive or park on.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
We understand your concern, and we take great care to minimize any potential impact on your driveway during the delivery and pick-up of your rental. Our roll-off dumpsters are designed with features to help prevent damage to surfaces. However, there are no certainties when it comes to moving these heavy containers around. For added peace of mind customers may provide boards to place under the dumpster wheels. Of course, we are always happy to work with you on implementing additional precautionary measures.
Why can’t the driver put the dumpster in a certain area?
If the driver refuses to place the dumpster in a specific location there is usually a good reason for it. Our drivers consider each location carefully, taking into consideration the safety and potential for damages to both your property and our equipment. Heavy trucks and containers can easily damage water lines, lawns, and other obstacles that aren’t always apparent. These dumpster rental questions could save you big time.
Weight Limits & Overages
What happens if I exceed the weight limit?
Dumpster weight limits are crucial to avoid extra costs. Going over the limit can lead to overweight fees and additional charges, as outlined in the rental agreement. If the dumpster is significantly overweight, pickup may be refused, requiring load redistribution or an extra dumpster. Proactive management of waste weight helps prevent additional fees and ensures a smooth rental process.
How are overweight charges calculated?
The calculation of overweight dumpster charges is outlined in the terms and conditions of your rental agreement. Generally, our overweight charges are calculated at $75 per ton exceeding the included weight. However, there are other potential charges to be aware of so estimate the weight of your waste as accurately as possible. If in doubt, or have lingering dumpster rental questions consult with Dump South for additional guidance.
Rental Agreement
Can I see a copy of the rental agreement before committing?
We would be happy to provide a copy of our rental agreement for you to review. Actually, when you rent a dumpster online it is part of the checkout process to review and agree prior to payment. Just reach out to us if you have any questions about it or want a copy to review.
What Information Is Included in the Rental Agreement?
Key details are covered in the rental agreement, such as the rental period, pricing, delivery and pickup schedules, weight limits, prohibited items, and any additional fees or charges. Any dumpster rental questions not covered here should be answered on the rental agreement.
Why Do I Need a Rental Agreement for a Dumpster?
A rental agreement serves as a legally binding contract that outlines the terms and conditions of the dumpster rental. It protects both parties by establishing expectations, responsibilities, and agreed-upon terms.
Do I Need Insurance for the Dumpster Rental?
Insurance is not required for the dumpster rental. However, we recommend you carefully read your homeowners policy or contact your agent to ensure compliance. The Rental agreement clarifies what aspects of the rental are covered by the rental company and what responsibilities fall on the customer.

Everyday Materials and Their Volumes
Wondering how much space those materials actually occupy? Let’s break it down:
Concrete
Concrete is heavy, so it doesn’t take up as much space as you might think. However, when you’re loading up concrete rubble volume isn’t the issue, it’s the weight that’s the concern. To avoid overloading a dumpster and paying for overages, pay close attention to the amount of weight you’re loading up.
Drywall
Drywall sheets are large but relatively thin, so they stack well. Typically, a standard bedroom has about 4-yards worth of drywall if neatly stacked. Be careful when estimating your dumpster requirements though because we rarely ever take the time to stack the materials neatly when renovating a room.
Roofing Shingles
They’re compact, but a roofing project can generate quite a pile. Carefully consider the total square footage of your roof to get an estimate of the quantity of shingles you’ll be removing. Then consider the other waste that will be generated from your project like plywood, lumber, pallets, and fascia. A 10-yard dumpster will hold about 2,500 square feet of shingles.
Furniture
Sofas, dressers, beds, and tables vary greatly in their volume. However, it’s a safe bet that the furniture in a single room of your home will require about 8 yards of space. As such, you should consider the number of rooms you will be clearing out. Always overestimate the size of dumpster you will need to account for the irregular shapes of furniture. Remember, furniture can vary in size, so consider it a ballpark estimate.
1 Cubic Yard of Material | Weight in Pounds |
Household debris | 150 to 300 |
Scrap wood | 300 |
Drywall | 500 |
Mulch | 600 to 1,000, depending on moisture content |
Scrap metal | 1,000 |
Soil | 2,000 |
Carpet | 2,300 to 3,200 |
Sand | 2,700 |
Gravel or Rock | 3,000 |
Concrete | 4,000 |
Asphalt | 4,000 |
These estimates should give you a better idea of how much space your materials will occupy in the dumpster. Keep in mind that the shape and density of your waste can affect how much you can fit, so it’s always a good idea to leave a little wiggle room when selecting your dumpster size.

Our range of dumpster sizes is carefully chosen to maximize space efficiency. These containers can fit into tight spaces while still offering ample capacity for waste removal.
Larger Roll-Off Containers

By using hook-lift trucks and dumpsters that can be adjusted to meet specific needs, we help you save money. You only pay for the capacity you require, reducing unnecessary expenses.
Larger Roll-Off Containers
Larger containers may seem cost-effective in terms of volume, but if you don’t fill them completely, you end up paying for unused space, leading to higher costs.
4. Environmental Impact
Hook-Lift Trucks & Versatile Dumpsters
Our equipment choices align with our commitment to environmental sustainability. By right-sizing the dumpsters for your needs, we reduce unnecessary waste, promoting responsible disposal practices.
Larger Roll-Off Containers
Using larger containers can lead to overfilling and increased waste generation, which has a more significant environmental impact.
Roll-Off Dumpster Safety & Rules
At Dump South dumpster rentals is our business but your safety is our top priority. We want to ensure that your roll-off dumpster rental experience is not only efficient but also safe for you and our team. Please take a moment to review these essential safety guidelines when using our dumpsters:
1. Do Not Move the Container
Once we’ve placed the roll-off dumpster in your desired location, please do not attempt to move it. Dumpsters are heavy and require specialized equipment for relocation. Moving a dumpster can be dangerous and may result in injuries or damage to property.
2. No Climbing or Standing on the Dumpster
For your safety, never climb or stand on top of the dumpster. It’s not designed for human occupancy or support. Climbing or standing on the container poses a significant risk of falls and injuries.
3. Avoid Overloading
Do not overload the dumpster by filling it beyond its designated fill line. Overloaded dumpsters can be hazardous during transport and may result in debris spilling onto the road, potentially causing accidents. Please follow the specified fill limit to ensure safe transportation.
4. Use the Loading Door
To safely load debris into the dumpster, use the provided loading door. Avoid throwing items over the sides of the container, as this can lead to injuries and create a hazard.
5. Keep Children and Pets Away
Ensure that children and pets stay away from the dumpster at all times. Dumpsters can be enticing to curious youngsters, but they are not safe play areas. Keep them a safe distance away to prevent accidents.
6. Report Any Damage or Safety Concerns
If you notice any damage to the dumpster or have concerns about its safety, please contact Dump South immediately. We’ll assess the situation and take appropriate action to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
7. Follow Local Regulations
Always adhere to local regulations regarding dumpster placement and use. Depending on your location, there may be specific rules and guidelines in place to ensure safety and compliance with local ordinances.
8. Hazardous Materials are Prohibited
As a reminder, hazardous materials such as chemicals, solvents, paint, batteries, and electronics are strictly prohibited from being placed in our dumpsters. Dispose of these items through appropriate channels to protect the environment and comply with safety regulations.
9. Secure Your Load
When loading the dumpster, ensure that materials are securely placed to prevent shifting during transportation. Loose or unsecured items can create hazards during transit.
Importance of Dumpster Safety Rules
Renting a roll-off dumpster for waste disposal necessitates a mindful approach to safety. Both Homeowners and Contractors should begin by researching and complying with local regulations and permit requirements. Selecting an appropriate dumpster size is critical for avoiding overloading which prevents transportation hazards. Proper placement on a flat, stable surface, with clear access and without obstacles, enhances safety during loading and unloading. Be aware of weight limits set by the rental company to prevent overburdening their equipment and the associated risks. Adhere to guidelines regarding prohibited materials and wear suitable personal protective equipment during the loading process. Restrict access to authorized personnel, securing the area to prevent accidents. Adhere to agreed-upon rental periods, scheduling a timely pickup, and have a plan for emergencies, including the presence of a fire extinguisher.
These considerations collectively contribute to a safe and efficient roll-off dumpster rental experience.
